Suzan Fawcett was born in Hamilton, Ontario in the last century. She left when she was 19 to attend the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Ontario where she completed a four year programme specializing in metal work. After college she became a Highway Planning Analyst and over time established her own businesses as a consultant/advisor and subsequently, horticulturalist.
Late in the last century she embraced her art once more and over the past 25 years has explored many creative paths culminating in her work with clay.
Suzan is essentially self taught in this area with mentorship support from 5 potters. Her effigial work has been ongoing since 2013. Her people, as she calls them, come to her spontaneously. She makes rough sketches and puts them aside until she either decides to create one or let it morph which is usually the case.
Whimsical pieces started in 2016. Her inspiration stems from personal visions and these often escalate into series [e.g. ‘Figure Studies’, ‘Water Craft’].
“My head is so crowded with ideas and there never seems to be enough time. My lament: I need an assistant!”
